Occasionally we get a request for yachts with classic lines and traditional aspects that have a heavier, more seakindly motion and yet still offer convenient deck layouts and conveniences. Tartan, Morgan, O’Day, Pearson, C&C and other manufacturers produced designs in the 70’s and 80’s that dominated the market then and are still respected today. And we appreciate these as well.
The big difference when comparing “Modern Classics” and the latest production yachts typically found in charter is that a Modern Classic is designed with “function over form”. The hulls are typically narrower with less free-board, lower coach-roofs, a deeper keel and larger sail area. This makes the yacht sail 5-15 degrees closer to the wind and sail with a much more seakindly motion. The downside is that this typically makes for a smaller interior cabin that may not be as open and airy or not have as many private staterooms as the latest designs. The latest yacths from most
production companies (Beneteau, Catalina, Hunter, etc) do an excellent job of interior accommodations and ease of sailing while ”Modern Classics” are designed emphasize sailing first.
Bay Breeze is proud to have a few “Modern Classics” to fill this need. These are yachts with classic lines, gorgeous teak interior and real sailing qualities. These beauties were built to sail gracefully in all weather conditions. Bay Breeze is offering these yachts at highly discounted rates compared to the latest designs of comprable size.
