1. Most of our instructors have been teaching sailing for 10-25 yrs with Bay Breeze. Most of which are active or retired high school and college teachers. They know how to convey the material. They know how to teach. Experience is everything and these guys (and gal) really like what they do.

2. We have the most beautiful area in which to learn to sail. Our protected waters offer a fantastic learning platform in a stunning region with many activities to enjoy after the class. The Grand Traverse Bay area is outstanding offering beaches, a nature preserve island, harbor towns, wine tasting, festivals and more. It’s the best learning vacation on the Great Lakes!

3. We are Michigan’s only full-time sailing school and yacht charter operation. For us, sailing is all we do and we do it well. In the winter we offer courses in the Caribbean and other warm water areas and we also offer classroom Radar, Weather, Navigation and GPS courses using simulators.

4. Our sailing school training boats are owned by Bay Breeze. We have a professional staff that maintains the boats so our instructors can focus on giving you the best sail training possible. By having a fleet of 19 boats ranging in size from 27’ to 43’, we train you on the boat that will fit you skill level. Many other schools consist of just a guy who is simply trying to pay off his boat by offering lessons. With other schools, you train on the boat that’s convenient for them.

5. We do not shorten class lengths to fit more classes into a season. Our class lengths are designed around the content to benefit you, not us. We will not compromise what you get out of a class by reducing your experience and time on the water. After getting certified, our students are much more confident and qualified than graduates who went through an abbreviated course with other schools. Simply put, you get what you pay for and our graduates are very satisfied and much more confident.

6. Our extensive charter fleet and experience offers you the opportunity to charter the boat after certification. This further establishes our assurance that you will not have a better experience or higher level of instruction than at Bay Breeze. Our dedication is teaching you to sail and taking your confidence to the next level. Most other sailing schools will shake your hand and send you off in your car only to forget what you just spent the last few days learning. We will be happy to send you off in one of our own boats.
