Nature abounds here where the Jordan River meets Lake Charlevoix at the small town of East Jordan. You can enjoy all of this by partaking in the myriad of recreational activities the area has to offer, or by “getting away from it all!” Look to the sky to glimpse a soaring bald eagl
e. Feel a smooth Petoskey stone in your palm. This is eco-tourism in the vast natural spaces surrounding East Jordan and it’s a sure way to relax, relieve stress, get a bit of exercise and most of all – have fun! Sailing down the South Arm of Lake Charlevoix offers an opportunity to see the Ironton Ferry and what makes East Jordan so special. Don’t miss it!
Food & Drink
East Jordan is amidst both water and industry. Located on the South Arm, boaters must dodge the Ironton Ferry and pass through a quaint no-wake zone with breathtaking homes aligning the shoreline to get to East Jordan. Once there, visitors have some of the following options for dining:
Murray’s Bar & Grill: With a patio overlooking the water, Murray’s is known for its giant burgers and world-class steaks. A sports bar by nature, Murray’s offers a fun, family-friendly atmosphere.
The Rowe Inn: The fine-dining legend of Charlevoix, Torch Lake and Northern Michigan, the Rowe Inn offers seasonal menus and an expansive wine collection. Often compared to the atmosphere and essence of a traditional French country inn, the Rowe changes its menu depending on the foods of each season.
Darlene’s Restaurant: This is the place for local coffee and banter. Open only for breakfast and lunch, Darlene’s Restaurant is laid back, but the coffee’s always hot and the food is always fresh. It is walking distance from the East Jordan Municipal Marina docks and the locals start piling in early each morning.
Activities & Events
Fly fish on the Jordan River; swim or camp in Tourist Park; learn at Raven Hill Discovery Center; or catch the entertainment and fireworks during East Jordan’s Freedom Festival. Activities in East Jordan are walking distance from your dock, and the visit is well worth your effort to this natural harbor town.
